Southern Summer Nights

On our recent trip to Charleston, South Carolina I had to have something to wear that would fit in with the southern charm. I went to my friends at ShopModerne.com and found the perfect outfit that made me feel like a Southern Belle.

As soon we landed in Charleston, our first stop was our dinner reservations at one of the best restaurants in town, S.N.O.B. (Slightly North of Broad). We cleaned up quickly from our day of travel and got into our clean clothes for dinner. I knew exactly what I was going to wear!

Summer Anthem:Summer nights

For my Southern Summer Nights outfit I chose this sweet lace tank paired with this peach skirt. I kept the accessories simple wearing my favorite everyday necklace and of course a belt! Have you noticed I belt everything? I found a cute lace bandeau to go under the tank. Last but not least, I thought that a pair of feminine

Gluten Free in Charleston, SC

Charleston, South Carolina is such a charming place to visit! We recently had the opportunity to visit Charleston for an awesome event, the Slimdown the South Softball game raising money and awareness for a very important cause, Louis Kids, focusing on childhood obesity. We were so happy and honored to be able to be a part of this event as focusing on living a healthy and active lifestyle is important to both of us. Our good buddy, Roberto was on our team, so of course we ended up winning the game! šŸ˜‰

We were in Charleston for this very special cause, but of course we had to eat, and my goal when visiting a new city is to try to explore gluten free friendly restaurants. Charleston had several, and if we had more time I would have visited every single one, but we made it to two, I’ll consider that great.

On our first …

Gluten free in Washington DC

In recent travels to our nationā€™s capital I was pleasantly surprised by how gluten free friendly the area was. On the first day from some research through Google, I found a gluten free friendly restaurant, Open City, right across the street from our hotel. It wasnā€™t just ā€œgluten free friendlyā€, but they actually had g-free options. The staff was even knowledgeable. When I asked how their kitchen made their gluten-free items I was thrilled to hear that they use clean surfaces and that the owners wife is gluten intolerant and everything has to be up to her standards. This made me happy to hear as many restaurants could have gluten free offerings, but lack a clean gluten free environment in the kitchen. This place seemed to do itā€™s best to provide that.

Not often do you find a restaurant that serves gluten free pastries, but for breakfast I got to enjoy an egg white omelet, …

G-Free Travel Snacks

Gluten Free friends, as you know traveling is a challenge when it comes to simply feeding yourself. I have sat on airplanes and in airports so hungry due to little or no options of g-free choices. Ā It seems almost impossible at the airport restaurants to avoid cross contamination, and all of the pre-made salads donā€™t give enough details of contents and preparation, and forget sandwiches- weā€™ve learned to move on from that option as soon as we said as we said goodbye to gluten. And I canā€™t even count how many times I have been on a flight when the only snack options were cookies, crackers, or pretzel mixes. The flights over three hours are the worst. So now, I just pack my own snacks, better safe then sorry. This also leaves me with easy go to options when I get to my destination (beats racking up the mini-bar bill). So no more hunger, just pack yourself …

CONFIDENCE IS KEY IN YOUR BIKINI

Itā€™s Bikini season as summer is right around the corner, are you ready?!

This year I actually felt ready to hit the beach as I vacationed in Maui. Here’s the secret to feeling ready…

My greatest secret for looking bikini ready is confidence. Honestly, I havenā€™t always had the confidence that I want to have, I am just as human as anyone else, so I have made a choice to do something about it. It wouldn’t be fair of me to not share with you how I gained this dose of healthy confidence, so here we go…

Time to get really honestā€¦ I have always been active and cared about being in shape and working out, but I had horrible eating habits. I would skip meals, and end up pigging out on junk food. There was nothing fun about that, but for some reason I thought it was the way to do it. …

Workout with my iPad

Confession… I despise the gym, but I love fitness and working out. Anyone else in my shoes?

I hear you! Glad we’re in this together.

So what do I do at the gym and why do I even bother?

Truth is, I don’t hate the gym completely. Once I get myself to the gym and get my workout in, I feel great by the time I’m heading home. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to get myself to the gym, but I have found a few tricks that get me there and make my time enjoyable. Yep, I said enjoyable.

More than half of my workouts I do outdoors or in a class, but sometimes there is no way around the gym. Plus, I have a gym membership, and once you get to know me you learn that I’m not a wasteful person, so I have to make sure I get my money’s worth out …
