Ten’s Fav Breakfast Porridge

A Carb Lovers Dream!

One of my absolute favorite hearty yet simple breakfasts and perfect for all carb lovers like me! Instead of a refined, sugary carb, like most carby breakfasts (bagels, muffins, etc) and cereals, this Breakfast calls for a complex carbohydrate, the “good kind” of carb!

Here’s something interesting… did you know that when you crash in the morning or you are still feeling hungry not too long after you finished eating breakfast, it’s most likely because of those refined sugars in your food, they cause your blood sugar to spike which causes you to crash… AND that’s how your belly fat begins to settle in. Crazy right? EEK! Good news is, we can avoid that and still enjoy and LOVE CARBS!! No need to go Carb free, just be wise and choose the good ones! Complex Carbohydrates will keep you satisfied, feeling full, and giving you good energy (carbs)! (I should do another blog on this someday soon!)

I realize Porridge doesn’t seem like a fancy or exciting name for breakfast food, but this porridge is delicious!! I eat this hot or cold, and it’s so simple to throw together quickly. You can use Brown Rice or Quinoa. I usually have one or the other already cooked up for the week, so in the morning all I do is take about a 1/4 cup-1/2 cup scoop, place in a bowl, heat up (or leave cold) and add all of my ingredients! It’s so easy to add tons of superfoods to start your day off with complete energy, protein, some healthy fats, and feeling super satisfied! (And it always satisfies my morning sweet tooth!)
