What Motivates you to MOVE?!

Healthy Living / My Workouts / Personal / Favorites / Miscellaneous

What Motivates you to MOVE?! I asked you that question and you said… “ME Time- breaking away from responsibilities for a moment” “Being able to move is a GIFT.” “MOOD” “To enjoy the FOOD I want to” “The way I feel AFTER” “For my KIDS- to be able to keep up with them” “ACCOUNTABILITY - sharing a goal, and having someone hold me to it.” “To LIVE a long and happy Life” I received HUNDREDS of answers when I asked this question, and I read every single one of them and was absolutely inspired by each response. I found myself incredibly motivated to get moving as I saw these answers coming through, so thank you for sharing! I’m motivated to move for several reasons. The way it makes me feel. There truly is a “high” afterwards with those endorphins pumping through. I feel balanced: mind, body, and soul. It gives me energy. I feel confident knowing that I’m doing…

Stranded in Paradise + 5 Go to Gluten Free Eats North Shore Kauai

Gluten-Free Me / Travel / Married Life

Spending a weekend stranded in paradise with my husband was PURE Bliss!!! We weren’t really stranded, but we had very limited access to anywhere but our family home in Haena, on the North Shore of Kauai. Really quick explanation, due to some devastating rainfall in April 2018 the road to get to our Haena home is closed, except at specific times a day and for residents only, so once residents enter into their community, they hunker down. (Besides the daily convoy to work/school, but if you can avoid it, you do!) We were only dropping in for a long weekend, so the plan was to hunker down, and not leave our sweet home… except for one date night in town, because we do have a few favorites that we just can’t skip when we're there. (I’m sharing my favorite spots to find some gluten free bites down below, scroll down if that's what you're here for!) So we lived the…

The Hardest Part of Marriage…

Married Life

Confession. The hardest part of marriage so far has had to do with ME. The day after we returned from our Mini-Moon, I instinctively went into my “ideal" of what being a "wife” was. I became crazed in responsibilities around our home. I ended up overwhelmed, and quickly burned myself out. I eventually learned that I had become crazed in my own expectations of myself. Taylor and I hadn’t really ever discussed expectations of responsibilities, because we hadn’t even thought of addressing it. The day we came home from our mini-moon (you can learn more about that HERE) was the first time we began living together! So exciting, and something we had obviously both been looking forward to for a long time. But because we didn’t head out on our honeymoon until about a month after our wedding, we basically had the weekend of our wedding to live in the bubble of wedded bliss. And then the…

Tenley’s Wedding Planning Series: Sonoma Bachelorette Weekend Part 2

Uncategorized

Where to begin when planning your Bachelorette Weekend?! I'm going to be honest with you, getting started with planning my Bachelorette Weekend was probably one of the biggest stressors for me and my girls. One, because I didn't give us very much time to plan...getting engaged in January and planning a wedding for the end of April didn't give us many weeks to plan, and not a whole lot of weekends to choose from to get away. And the second reason Bachelorette weekend planning was such a stressor was the question "where can we go?".  And third, once we picked Sonoma, there were sooooo many options of where to stay, what to do, how we'd get there, etc. So that's why I've decided to share this blog post with you! I needed something so straight to the point to help us navigate and plan the weekend, I hope this can be that for you. Wether or not you're just…

Thanksgiving for Two – “Dates-giving!”

Thanksgiving for Two.

It's the time of the year that we reflect on all that we're thankful for, and my heart is so full. This time of year deserves a little time to slow down, reflect and share. And the other night, my dreamy guy and I created a mini Thanksgiving for just the two of us. {Menu included below} It was a moment to pause and share our thanks with one another, and enjoy a festive meal… talk about pre-gaming! Haha. I'm already full heading into tomorrow. I thought I'd share a few items from our menu from the other night and also share a few things I'm thankful for, because my heart is truly overflowing with gladness. This Guy. My Love, My Best Pal. Ohh man. Now I'm all teary eyed trying to find words to share my thankfulness for this sweet answer to prayer in my life. haha. I'm such a sap. For those of you …

Truly Drinking There's nothing better than summer nights and spontaneous moments that make truly special memories. But of course, for the perfect spontaneous moments, you need the perfect beverage in hand! And friends, I'll be honest with you, warm summer days and nights usually leave me reaching for a cool bevvy to kick my feet up with, but as we all know… not all drinks are created equal. Often times drinks that contain alcohol, contain gluten, and most are full of sugar and calories (I'm not a big calorie counter, but hello alcoholic beverages that are on a caloric overload… goodness!). But don't you worry, I have a gluten free, crisp, clean, and refreshing Spiked and Sparkling drink to share with you that will up the ante on your summer beverage game! drum roll please... Truly Spiked & Sparkling Truly-Cheers-Splash So here's why I love Truly and why I chose to partner with them for this summer season:

Celebrating 100 Years of La Victoria

Uncategorized

Florals-first photo I was extremely honored to be invited to a perfectly beautiful evening celebrating the brand, La Victoria's 100th Anniversary! To even think of a brand having excelled for that many years while keeping the integrity and foundations that they established as a company 100 years ago is incredible. La Victoria was the pioneer of jarred salsa. In 1917, and to this day they continue to make all of their salsas and sauces with real, simple ingredients. Plus, all of their tomatoes are sourced right here in California! Being in the nutrition world, I appreciate this so much, as the ingredients are jarred at their greatest quality, just as if your Abuela/Grandma might do. insta photo La Victoria is actually a part of my personal story, so it was an additional honor to be invited to this celebration. When I first went gluten free, I was clueless of what I could even eat, and terrified by the fact that most sauces and even…

Coconut Dreams with Tom’s of Maine

Uncategorized

FullSizeRender 117 My heart and soul come alive in nature, especially at the beach. There is nothing like the sound of the waves, the ocean spray off the sea, and that fresh beachy air. With my life by the beach and my career and passion for nutrition, nature truly inspires me. Nature inspires the foods I choose and the activities I love, and of course, nature inspires me with the things I reach for and bring into my home for self care. With that, I have been on the hunt for a new natural body wash and soap that would be easy to get my hands on and that would be full of ingredients that I agree with and feel good about putting on my body. And just as good timing has it, Tom’s of Maine reached out to share their new Natural Body Washes and Beauty Bars to enjoy. And the review is in… I'm hooked. Especially with the Creamy Coconut

Tenley’s Favorite Simple Coffee Upgrades!

Uncategorized

Coffee The fact that I love coffee is no secret! And some are surprised by my daily cup as I work in the holistic health  and wellness world. Coffee isn't all that bad, but there are a few reasons why I may personally take a break from time to time, or even suggest my clients to slow down their coffee consumption.  (More on that in a future post!) Truth is, over the years, I have made some HUGE changes with how much coffee I consume and what is in my cup. Upgrading what is in your cup can actually boost your energy even more throughout the day vs. slow you down-which most of our coffee drinks actually do. These simple upgrades can also help you lean out your mid-section, as most of the additions we're adding into our fancy coffees are slowing down our metabolism… and all those sugary and milky substances like to make themselves at home around that waistline.…
